Cast from 8620 carbon steel to a compact, eye-pleasing shape, s159 Wedges�are the result of extensive testing alongside PING's tour professionals. The wedges provide a soft yet responsive feel at impact thanks to an elastomer insert behind the face, while a more square leading edge improves contact on full swings. As always, control is integral to strong wedge play, and PING's precision-milled wheel-cut grooves deliver the elevated spin rates required to execute even the most difficult short game shots. Additionally, the grooves are loft-dependent, optimizing performance based on the club's intended purpose. The lower lofts' narrower 20-degree sidewall offers greater accuracy on full shots when compression occurs. Conversely, the higher-lofts more tightly spaced, wider MicroMax grooves impart superior spin rates around the green on shorter chips and pitches. Combined with the friction-enhancing face blast, all lofts supply the launch and spin characteristics to play score-lowering shots from any distance. With the addition of two grinds and new loft offerings, the s159 is PING's most versatile line to date. H or Half-Moon Grind: Advantageous for players with steeper angles of attack who prioritize versatility and like to manipulate the face.
