About this product

Honestly this was a pleasant surprise on my visit to Horniman, and not what I had expected to see - a native American totem pole in South London! The museum, the clocktower, the mosaic- all spectacular but I chose this angle to make the totem pole the 'hero' as it's such a unique and interesting piece against the contrasting architecture of the building itself. London’s first Alaskan totem pole, It was carved by Nathan Jackson, a Tlingit from Alaska, at the Museum of Mankind from 15 May to 15 June 1985. I loved doing the illustration, and including details like some colourful guests from the butterfly house making an appearance in the gardens. Sold unframed. Dispatched in postal tubes. Please flatten fully before framing.
