On this first release on my new label, San Francisco Fortepiano Society, I have coupled the late piano works of Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) with that of his friend and admirer, Jan Ladislav Dussek (1760-1812). Duseek and Haydn met in London in 1791 when Haydn was on his first trip to England and Dussek helped Haydn get acquainted with the British concert scene. He lent Haydn his Broadwood piano for concerts and composing and both men enjoyed each others company. Both composers admired each other's
